Strength in Unity: How Catalyst Forged a Powerful Partnership Between Huguenot and St Ambrose Lodges

The true measure of Freemasonry's success is often found in the unexpected bridges built between Lodges. Within the Spriggs Inspectorate, the Catalyst Scheme has proven to be exactly that – a powerful reaction that doesn't just support one Lodge, but elevates two. It is a scheme which pairs thriving Lodges with those looking to rebuild, fostering camaraderie and a shared exchange of experiences.

When Huguenot Lodge officially joined forces with St Ambrose Lodge under the Catalyst umbrella in November 2025, the goal was to forge a meaningful alliance. What has followed over the subsequent months has become a masterclass in mutual support, revitalized energy, and genuine Masonic camaraderie.

Reigniting the Flame

The introduction of the Catalyst Scheme acted as a vital kick-start for St Ambrose, reigniting a deeper interest and engagement in the Lodge. This newfound momentum complemented the Lodge's recent growth and renewed enthusiasm. The arrival of the Catalyst partnership has provided the perfect support structure to anchor these new Initiates, ensuring the Lodge is stronger and more vibrant than ever.

The Power of Visiting and Practical Support

The heartbeat of this success story lies in the constant, organic back-and-forth between the two memberships. Meetings are no longer isolated events; instead, columns are consistently boosted by enthusiastic visitors from both sides. The sheer numbers at Festive Boards and in the temple have given every meeting an undeniable buzz.

But this isn't a partnership that stops at the dining table. It has extended deep into the ritual work itself. Officers from both Lodges have routinely stepped across to assist one another. A standout example of this is the regular attendance of W. Bro Ranvir Singh, the IPM of Huguenot Lodge, whose expert support and assistance during ceremonies has added immense polish, experience, and dignity to the floor work.

A Symmetrical Partnership

Perhaps the ultimate testament to how deeply these Lodges have intertwined is a recent milestone in candidate progression: Huguenot Lodge supplied a Candidate to St Ambrose to be raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason.

This gesture perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the Catalyst Scheme. Today, the dynamic has completely evolved from a simple support system into a genuine, symmetrical partnership where both Lodges actively assist, challenge, and champion one another.

Looking Ahead

What began in late 2025 as an initiative to strengthen St Ambrose has resulted in both Lodges becoming more resilient, close-knit, and successful. The camaraderie forged between the Brethren of Huguenot and St Ambrose is a shining example of what the Spriggs Inspectorate and the Catalyst Scheme can achieve at their very best. United in purpose, both Lodges now look forward to a bright, shared future of full temples and rich fellowship.

CATALYST pairs two types of Lodges:

Catalyst Lodges – Lodges seeking support to rejuvenate meetings and regenerate membership.

Brother Lodges – Lodges committed to providing that support through presence, participation, and encouragement.

This twinning is guided by the Masonic principle of Brotherly Love, with no rigid structure – just a shared commitment to help each other thrive.

Brother Lodges may assist their Catalyst Lodge partners by:

  • Attending meetings and offering encouragement.
  • Supporting ceremonies and taking part in ritual as requested.
  • Providing help with progressive offices.
  • Aiding implementation of the Lodge's Membership Plan.
  • Collaborating across Inspectorates, where natural connections exist (e.g., shared venues, Chapters, Associations, or overlapping membership).
