Chancery Bar Lodge – an invitation.
For more than a century, Chancery Bar Lodge No 2456, which was consecrated on 28th November 1893, has met in Lincoln’s Inn.
It is a Lodge for Freemasons who have been called to the Bar and has had many distinguished members such as Lord Swinfen-Eady MR, Lord Templeman, Sir John Balcombe and Lord Millett. It still meets and dines in Lincoln’s Inn and is one of the very few legal Lodges still in existence.
If you are a Freemason and a member of the Bar (you do not necessarily need to be in practice), then membership might well be for you. The Brethren of the Lodge come from all sorts of backgrounds; and members’ practices range from traditional chancery to libel. The conversation is witty and lively, and the dining is first-rate.
