It was a real honour to visit the City of London Rifles Lodge No 5606 for the first time since the equalisation of London Lodges, ably supported by my Met Team, where I had the privilege of presenting a 50 Year Long Service Award to a Brother who was a merchant navy officer and is the author of three biographical maritime books whilst also presenting Grand Lodge Certificates to two Brethren from the Netherlands.
The City of London Rifles, which began as a volunteer regiment, has a rich military history most especially during WW1 when they won many battle honours which are proudly displayed at every meeting.
Furthermore, the Lodge can boast a strong cohesive cohort of younger progressive Officers, together with their newly installed Master, who are each able to deliver very competent and confident ritual which is testament to the fact that while living outside London they have all joined a local LOI close to where they live.
This is a great bunch of Brothers within our special family of military Lodges.
