The Welcome Project aims to invite every new Initiate and Exaltee in the Metropolitan area to a high-quality Initiation/ Exaltation within a short period after joining. These specially selected Lodge and Chapter meetings are to support gaining understanding of the ceremony they recently participated in as well as meeting other recent joiners to London Masonry and build new friendships.
The project is administered by Welcome Project Team coordinators, with each new member receiving by e-mail a letter from The Welcome Project detailing the range of meetings available via a dedicated website with easy-to-follow booking instructions.
The Welcome Project strand includes the renowned and very popular Narrated Ceremony presentations, which currently includes high-quality narrated demonstrations of the Initiation and the Raising ceremonies.
On 26 March 2026, Earl Roberts Lodge No 3151 hosted the Welcome Project flagship Narrated 1st Degree Demonstration at Freemasons’ Hall, with over 100 Brethren booked to attend, including 30 Entered Apprentices, making it a particularly significant and memorable event for the Welcome Project. And on 6th June, North East Corner Lodge No 6461 hosted the flagship Narrated 3rd Degree Demonstration.
RW Bros Paul Grier and Casper Lawson, Deputy Metropolitan Grand Masters, VW Bro Ian Clark, Deputy Metropolitan Grand Superintendent and W Bro Paddy Cooper made a significant contribution as Narrators across both events; adding greatly to the experience. These are the only narrated demonstrations sanctioned by Metropolitan Grand Lodge and are presented in partnership with the Metropolitan Grand Stewards Demonstration Team.
Across all aspects of the Welcome Project, new members and indeed all bookers will be supported within the Welcome Project meeting itself, and at dinner afterwards by a member of the Welcome Project team and very often a Metropolitan Grand Inspector will be present.
