St. Paul’s Lodge began in 1790 and is one of the oldest Lodges in the United Grand Lodge of England, retaining some of its old traditions whilst also creating new ones.
We are an expanding Lodge with members from a wide range of backgrounds, including Engineering, the Building Industry, IT, Financial Services, Research, Accounting, with ages ranging from early 20’s to 70’s.
Every member of St. Paul’s Lodge has a good sense of humour. The ethos of the Lodge is that every member brings a different gift; not everyone has to be a great ritualist, organiser, Secretary or Treasurer. However, every Brother is afforded the opportunity to become better at what they enjoy doing and are supported with those things that they find a challenge. We have all bought into the idea of excellence in the Lodge room and enjoyment when dining after the meeting – in every case with a smile on our faces.
Most members attend most meetings of the Lodge and we actively support every member wanting to progress through the Offices of the Lodge. The Lodge has a strong nucleus of experienced members, with a growing contingent of recently joined younger members who are progressing in their understanding of Freemasonry.
The Lodge meets at Freemasons’ Hall, Great Queen Street, London, on the 3rd Friday of February and the 1st Friday of May, July & September, normally starting at 5.30 p.m. After each Meeting, members dine in Covent Garden, just a short walk away.
Meeting rehearsals, when needed, are normally held shortly before Meetings at a date/time convenient to attendees.
Ideal Candidate for our Lodge
An ideal candidate for St Paul’s will share our values, which are built around having a positive impact on society, becoming better people and nurturing an interest in Masonic history and tradition. We would encourage any man over the age of 18, who lives his life according to a set of values and who has a belief in a Supreme Being, to contact us. We will also welcome any existing Freemasons looking to join a new Lodge.
